My First Pattern Challenge

As I said in my last posting, I am challenging myself to take everyone of my patterns and create each of them. I know this is not going to be a quick thing to do because some of these patterns are complicated and involved. Plus when it comes to knitting, I am not the fastest knitter but slow and steady wins the race!

So I have picked my first pattern called the Simple Mistake Knit Rib Vest by Karen J. Minott. About 6 months ago, I bought a pattern book called 101 Designer one-skein wonders and this pattern was in the book. I started this pattern back in May and got all of 2 rows knitted before I put it in my "project to be finished at a later time" box. The poor thing just sat there waiting for me to pick it up and click my needles together again.

The yarn I chose is Red Heart Designer Sport in baby blue. It seems to be a pretty good weight for the vest.I have about 3 inches knit so far and it is beginning to look good. I can see the ribs forming and everything! I am figuring it will take me about 2 weeks to finish this pattern. Everyday, I want to knit for a couple of hours which I can do after kiddies go to sleep because then I will be uninterrupted. I am still undecided about whether to keep this vest for myself or not but I am really liking it.

Losing my Passion but Looking for IT

I don't know when this really started but it has come to the fore-front of my thoughts on an hourly basis the past few weeks, I have lost my passion. My passion used to lie in seeing my finished products, no matter what I made I loved it. Now it all feels like a routine.

The creating, making, listing, promoting. I just so exhausting and not fun anymore. When I started creating to sell, I told myself I would always love what I am doing and that would be my drive. Well, like a guy, I have fallen out of love with my creating. How does one fall out of love with a craft that they lived for and near-perfected a skill for. I could just about crochet anything that was asked of me. Lately, I have been trying to focus my attention on creating certain items. Maybe that is part of my problem. I am not a routine person and I get BORED easily.

So I am on the search to find my passion again. Honestly, I know where my heart is and that is with designing and creating wedding dresses. Since I was very young, I love to draw the dress I wanted to get married in. Mind you, over the course of 27 years my tastes have changed but I still love the wedding dress and creating them for me or any girl who wants to feel special. I know that at the moment there is not enough space for me to design and create wedding dresses but I will get there some day!

In the meantime, I will be setting on a new course with my creative aspects. I, of course, will be continuing to expand my tutu horizons with tutu dress and creating complete costume to go with the tutus. Those will stay in the Kaedan Krafts shop. In the Meagan's Designs shop, you will be seeing my new creative pathway. I am going to take all the patterns (1000+patterns) and creating each and everyone of them! Some of the creations will be going up for sale in my shop and others I will be giving as gifts for the upcoming Christmas season but you will see each and every one on my blog! This will keep things fresh and new and maybe, just maybe, I will find my passion again!

My first blog post

Most of you will know me from my other blog, Kaedan Krafts. I have decided to change things up a bit and use this blog to feature new items and projects that I am working on and use Kaedan Krafts blog to feature other handmade artists and sellers.

I was really getting overwhelmed with keeping up with the KK blog and dividing time between promoting myself and promoting others. Karma is a huge thing in my life and I really feel the want to promote others who face the same selling and creating challenges as I do but on the other hand I want to promote myself.

So with MD blog you can expierence my journey through sewing, crocheting, knitting and tutu making. I have some pretty big plans for myself in the near future and I can't wait to share with all of you!

**As a side note, I am starting to take halloween orders for tutus so if you would like to order one and have it arrive in time for halloween please do this as early as possible for you!
